It’s been a while since we rolled out a new stable agent. Several new features have been added, and a number of smaller bugs have been eliminated. Agent 3.17 was just released today, for both Windows and Mac platforms. It includes the following:
- Support for newer render apps
- Support for SOCKS 5 proxies to enable operation on restricted corporate networks
- Smarter agent-to-farm TCP port selection and memory to minimize firewall interference
- A built-in notification mechanism for alerts about job status changes
- User-customized background imagery
- Night mode, so as not to burn your retinas when working in the Bat Cave
Thanks to our users for suggestions on several of the above items. Of course, thanks to the devs working on our agent for making all of these new features possible.
The new agent is required for all of you who wish to submit jobs to our Cinema 4D R20 instances, which is the next big announcement today. We’ve had a number of requests for R20 support, so we’re happy it’s here and ready to roll. The list of updated apps released today is as follows:
- Cinema 4D R20 (yea!)
- Redshift 2.6.23 in all Max, Maya, and C4D instances
- Arnold 2.4.1.2 in C4D R18, R19, R20; 3.1.0.1 in Maya 2017 and 2018; and 2.1.949 in Max 2018
- The full suite of Greyscalegorilla plugins in R20
- Cineversity plugins in R20
- Maya 2018 was updated to 2018.4
- Terragen Alpha was updated to the latest Frontier build
- Maxwell 4 was updated to 4.2.0.3, and now has support for CPU Denoising
As usual, Windows users will likely have their agents self-update in the next couple hours or so. Mac users will be prompted with the version download links, so they can simply overwrite the existing agent app in their Applications folder.
Enjoy!
